Angela Hagaman, PhD

Research Assistant Professor, College of Public Health; Co-Director Addiction Science Center; Interim Director, Strong BRAIN Institute, East Tennessee State University

Angela provides oversight for research and community-based initiatives within the East Tennessee State University Addiction Science Center. As part of this work, she leads a team of staff, graduate research assistants, and one post-doctoral fellow. She co-leads work funded by the National Institute of Health, including a project designed to index peer recovery support specialist work settings and activities within a social ecological model as well as providing support on the Collaborative Hub for Emerging Adult Recovery Research. Angela also serves as Principal Investigator on the Tennessee Opioid Abatement Community Grant, Recovery Ecosystem-Access to Care and Health, and collaborates on several community-based prevention initiatives including the First Tennessee Development District’s Caring Workplace Initiative and the Washington County Sheriff’s Mental Health Task Force. Angela received her Doctor of Public Health degree in 2021 and is also a National Certified Counselor.
