Jacquelyn “Jacki” Hillios is Co-Founder, Executive Director, and Chief Research Officer of The Phoenix and NewForm. A clinical social worker and sociologist, she has spent the last two decades expanding The Phoenix from a single community in Colorado into a peer-led recovery organization that has reached more than one million people. Under her leadership, its reach has grown through volunteer-led communities, partnerships with correctional facilities nationwide, and a digital platform that has evolved into NewForm.

Jacki leads the organizations’ research strategy and provides executive oversight of research and evaluation. Her work advances understanding of how intentionally designed communities can create the conditions for belonging, psychological safety, recovery, and flourishing. For the Belonging and Becoming Study, Jacki helps ensure the research remains grounded in the questions that matter most to the organizations’ mission, model, and communities, while providing executive leadership on the study’s strategic direction and major decisions.
